Influence of tannin and iron ions on the water resistance of clay materials

The objective of this paper is to propose a simple and robust additive solution improve the water-resistance clay materials by revisiting traditional recipe vernacular construction. influence combination oak tannin with iron chloride on properties in terms rheological behavior, compressive strength, water resistance was studied. We show that adding can annihilate deflocculation action complexation reaction between ions tannin. accumulation oxidation formed complex at sample surface, identified TGA SEM, prevent ingression.
